GNR has gone Grunge and Roses, which is not horrifying, but still not that pleasing. When was the last time there was a new GNR album out anyway?

Metallica is absolute garbage and should have all died before even the Black Album came out. Perfect end to a career, just like Jimi.

Guns & Roses does not exist anymore. I found it hard to like G & R when they were popular, but that was because I hadn't listened to their music. Say what you want, but those guys rocked, and WERE rock & roll.

Van Halen sucks. Always has, always will. Yay.

Agreed as well. Although I don't mind some of their stuff, Kurt Cobaine still isn't the Jesus of rock so many people claim him to be. Rolling Stone magazine put him as one of the top 20 guitarists of all time around 11th I think. Which should be noted was a couple spots ahead of Jeff Beck and Jerry Garcia.

I loved Nirvana. I like Cobain's voice, even though it's pretty scratchy and what not. Nirvana may have ben overrated, but Cobain knew that. The post-Nirvana explosion was pretty gay, but whatever. They have their place in history.

I love Tool. Korn and Slipknot, notsomuch. Tool gets a bad rap, and I can't figure out why. It's the kind of music I've had to listen to quite a few times to really grasp, and I kind of like that. My advice for anyone interested in Tool and thinks they are overrated is to borrow the album at the very least (Lateralus is the best, but Aenima is a good one, too) and listen to it at four different times. It's a commitment, I realize, but they are GOOD. And the lyrics are pretty fucking deep.

I actually did own Aenima (or is the album Aenema? I can never remember anymore), but it got stolen. That's one of the few CDs I got for free from Columbia House that I wouldn't mind having back.

Tool is a decent band, slightly proggy, fairly heavy, and very unique. I can't really say I can consider it mallcore. It's just good hard proggish rock. Tool is one of the better bands to hit the radio in the past 10 or so years.

Yes, it is the rabid fans who screw up decent bands like that and try to make it seem like a better band than it is.
Original guitars and deep lyrics are key in making Tool a decent band. All in all, there are some grunge/hardrock bands from the 90s I kinda like.

I will concede to liking Sound Garden, Tool, some of Alice In Chains, and a few other random popular songs I heard on the radio in the 90s. That is, I still like them now. There were some I "liked" at the time, but don't care for now. Nirvana, for example. I liked Nirvana in Jr. High school, because that's all I'd really known.

Anyway, now you all know my life story. Yay!

Thoughts on Metallica: Master of Puppets and ...And Justice For All. Beyond that, Metallica just lost it.

Guns N Roses: I never understood what everyone loved about "Sweet Child O Mine". It's OK, I guess, but nothing special. "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Paradise City" were the only songs on that album worth listening to anyway. Use Your Illusion wasn't bad though.

Van Halen: The Roth days were definitely the best. But Hagar, man. Nerf Herder said it best: "I'll never buy your lousy records again."

But Megadeth owns all.
