Okay, so, I know this is a pretty lame subject, but I'm always curious to find out just what shows people are watching. Especially being from Canada, I don't know what the rest of the world finds entertaining.

These are the ones that are still running:

30 Rock
Archer
The Big Bang Theory
Community
Glee (yeah yeah, that's all me)
Modern Family
The Office
How I Met Your Mother
House
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The Vampire Diaries (again, all me)
True Blood
Dexter
Breaking Bad (that's all him)
Mad Men
Parks and Recereation
Fringe
Futurama (seeing as it has made a return and all)

Shows that are no longer running but we still continue to watch:

Arrested Development
Undeclared
Freaks and Geeks
Firefly
Dollhouse
Spaced
The Office UK

So, let's hear it. What do you watch?

If it's on Showtime, I watch it. Even The Big C, which I really shouldn't.

  • Dexter

  • United States of Tara

  • Nurse Jackie

  • Episodes

  • Shameless

  • Weeds

  • The Borgias

  • Daily Show/Corbert Report

  • Venture Bros

  • Fringe

  • Breaking Bad (only finished second season, no spoilers!)

  • Walking Dead

  • Mad Men

  • Battlestar Galactica

  • Lost

  • Slings and Arrows

  • Everybody Loves Raymond (I know, I'm sorry, I get a kick out of this show)

  • Modern Family

  • Seinfeld

  • The Wire

  • Treme

I've seen enough of Californication to know I would like it if I dove on in.

Red Dwarf for the fucking win, mandingo.

My wife and I are currently hooked on Dexter; we've been renting the dvds and watching them seeing as we don't have cable and don't have decent enough internet to stream anything online.

Other than that I love CSI and CSI: Miami and buy the seasons on dvd when I have the money, and I'm starting to collect MST3K on dvd as well.

I mainly watch cookery programmes* and Family Guy.  Currently working my way through Sons Of Anarchy series 2.  When The Wire was on I watched that religiously.  That's about it.  My other half watches Eastenders which depresseses me to the point of suicide and Grey's Anatomy.

If Being Human makes it over the pond I recommend you watch that. As well as QI, but it probably won't.

* except anything with that cinking prune-faced stunt, Gordon Ramsey.  Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall ftw.

that's what they said after Mark Lamarr left and then after Bill Bailey left too. it's apparently a constantly deteriorating show that's somehow going on its 25th series. my favorites are the last two series with Noel Fielding. no doubt to some peeps that's when it got bad. and the beat goes on...

Being Human is on BBC America here and we've got our own Americanized version that just started on AMC, I think? TBS? Spike? NatGeo? One of them. Anyway, more tits in the original and more blood and gore in the American one. We are all surprised by this.

This isn't comprhensive but a quick sample;

Out of the current crop of US shows, I mainly watch

House (something about a cranky cynic with a high dose of sarcasm really appeals)

Dexter (amazing, though I thought last season felt rushed near the end)

Burn Notice (got into it after reading an interview with Bruce Campbell, quite a fun show, a bit like McGuyver on speed)

Stargate Universe (Think its cancelled, and some eps were poor, but overall I thought it showed promise, and no one really makes space sci fi anymore so I take what I can get)

Others Ive loved recently,

The Wire
Arrested Development (there's always money in that bananastand, heard whisperings of a film in the works)
Battlestar Galactica (though the very end was a bit of a let down)
The Walking Dead (wasn't sure if this was a one off or not)
The Unit (Schmaltzy family bits aside this was actually a rather decent show)
Heroes (it was beginning to repeat itself but made for a fun hours viewing)
Mad Men (Stopped watching at season 2, but hoping they'll repeat 3 soon on the box)
24

This side of the pond Ive really enjoyed recently;

Merlin (biped's done a good write up of this series, production values are quite high and for an adulty/kids show theres a lot going on)

QI (as panel formats go this one is quite interesting)

Psychoville (a black comedy from the peeps behind League of Gentlemen, insane is all I can really say)

Hustle (occasionally the plots are a bit naff but in general its quite an entertaining little heist drama)

Top Gear (stopped being a 'car' show a long while back and is now, as they self describe, just three blokes 'cocking' around.  About as edgy as the Beeb get these days (as they seem rather appologetic to everyone recently, I think they're worried about the licence fee review and the new government) but I think they allow it to get away with more because of all the commercial cash it brings in.

Come Fly with Me (A decent if slightly overdone mockumentary of life at an airport from the 'little britain' team)

As for classic TV I could be here for years, briefly

Spaced, Father Ted, Red Dwarf, Star Trek's (all seasons, yes even voyager to an extent, TNG was the one I grew up with so at a stretch Id say thats my favourite, tbh they got lazy scriptwise after roddenbury died), Blackadder, Dangermouse, The A-Team (in fact most action/cop/fun/american shows from the 80s) Seinfeld, Cheers, Fraiser, Diagnosis Murder, Early eps of Friends ('the ones' where they're still trying to define the characters) Cowboy Bebop, The Young ones, The Thick of It, Battlestar Gal(old series),  Babylon 5, simpsons, futurama, etc.

Oh, that hurts.

I've fought off more bear attacks than Daniel Boone.

But while we're on the subject of B.J. and the Bear, I drove by a late 70's Cadillac Seville the other day on the freeway and thought of Sheriff Lobo.

This is true. You have to keep all goodies safely locked away and out of sight, or the bears come a'running.

Yeah, Merlin was good.  Kind of for kids but appealed to us 30-somethings as well.

Jamie's 30 Minute Meals had Mr. Oliver doing a 4 course dinner in half an hour.  OK so two of the courses were usually salads and he's an annoying stankwain, but it's still pretty cool to watch.

I love Man Versus Food repeats.  Next time I visit America I'm going to try something stupidly spicy or stupidly large.  Or, if in Canada, eat my weight in poutine.

We got rid of our TV programming because it cost a buttload and commercials are absolutely shit. Even when you DVR things, you still have to spend the time speeding through commercials.  But the one channel I miss is definitely Food Network.  Iron Chef, 30 Minute Meals, Top Chef, Food Challenge, those shows with Guy Fieri, Throwdown...

I'm a robust woman. Obviously I like food shows haha.

Chopped is awesome too.  I agree with a couple of items your list there.  I only liked the old Japanese Iron Chef, not the new American version.  Any Challenge is good, cupcake wars generally gets me fired up.  I love Good Eats (Alton Brown = Bill Nye).

As far as other shows, I watch Mythbusters, Cash Cab, anything with real forensics or police cases, I recently started watching the re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond.

The rest of the time I'm using the music channels on the sattelite to keep the parakeet happy and to have some background noise whilst I work on projects.

I'm so into Supernatural right now it's insane. TNT recently started up showing the series from the beginning and basically everyone in my extened family is watching it now.

That's really all I watch these days. I sometimes catch up on my Modern Family or Glee if I'm waiting for something to cook that I plan on eatting while I watch Supernatural.

I'm not really a "channel flipper" type.

Peep Show is the best comedy I've seen in years. Dirty, filthy hilarity---those Brits have it right...accept for Marmite and general dental care.(Youtube)

The Trailer Park Boys (Canada) Netflix Instant is a very funny show and couple of movies.

I always liked Sunny in Philadelphia until this last season...kind of lame...same with the Office this last year.

Food Porn is always good...especially if it involves some angry bastard yelling and talking about "flavor profiles".

Dexter

United States of Tara

Louie

That Mitchell and Webb Look

East Bound and Down

Old shows that are still good:

Kids in the hall...(Netflix instant) Best sketches since Python

Wish MSTK3000 was still on...still funny but more topical references.

M*A*S*H*

Absolutely Fabulous

Arrested Development

Those dirty sons of bitches cancel everything good...like Carnivale and The Riches

I know once I see Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire and Treme...I'll be horribly addicted.

I don't have cable though...and it beats the fuck out of crack. ....God, I miss crack.
