By whom? Certainly not by anyone who hasn't decided to like Star Trek no matter what. "Trekkies," I believe they call them.
Have you seen The Absent Minded professor recently? Starring that B-actor whom disney bought? It's awful. An interesting concept, maybe, awfully done.
I will admit that Disney has been improving in recent years, but that's beause they realize their movies have to be marketable not only to kids but also to their parents and also to people who were smart enough not to have kids.
I'm with Scyess on this, too.
I like those Star Trek movies, and yes, I do believe the other ones suck to varying degrees. The worst was Star Trek V. Shatner's direction wasn't so bad, but his story ideas definitely were.
And Disney (live action) movies have been getting worse, not better. They used to be imaginative and different, now they're mostly remakes of their old movies, and painfully bad movies built on licensed properties, such as Inspector Gadget and My Favorite Martian.
Oh, and Fred MacMurray rocks. Repeat after me: "FLUBBER DOES NOT DANCE!"
