Cub fan or Sox fan?
That's a live or die question.
Hell, if you're smart, you're probably a Mariners fan now.
I like Wrigley and hate the DH. I hate that the Sox made me pay for a stadium with tax dollars. I enjoyed the hype around the Ms but I never made it to a game this year. I got a few free tickets last year...
So is it thumbs up or down?
Thumbs up, my friend. I am a die-hard Cubs fan. I have relatives out in Aurora who turned me into one by age 9. When I was 9, the Cubs won the 1984 NL East, so I expected this to be the norm for my new team. I soon came to find that, on average, the Cubs make the playoffs once every 30 or 40 years, when the thought strikes them.
Truth is that I don't really take the Sox-Cubs rivalry too seriously, but I know a lot of people in Chicago do. The only team I truly and sincerely hate with every slice and fillet of my being is the Mets. 1969.
About four years ago, the Diamondbacks came to Arizona. The state went wild for them and I was tempted to switch my allegiance over. But I stayed strong, stuck with the Cubs and don't have the world series ring to prove it.
