Thealiasman, you seem like an intelligent enough creature, someone who will happily waste massive amounts of his day researching things on the internet and picking arguments with people online. I was actually ALMOST agreeing with you in your last mass post, until you CLAIMED to be a cartoonist who had been burnt many times before, I seriously challenge that claim. The underlying smart-arse tones in your posts suggest that you're some know-it-all high school kid who felt the need to point holes in the running of StripCreator. Yes, we were all very aware of the potential legal minefield in this site and yes, we all tried to just ignore it.
Please believe me when I tell you that this discussion has come up before, we have talked about many SC related ventures and the only thing stopping us was the inevitable court battle with old users and donating artists.
Brad obtained the art from a website that was "public domain", any issues Matt Groening has with StripCreator should be taken up with this website, who are offering the art to the rest of the world.
Brad DOES credit 'Life In Hell', as well as the creators of the rest of the art here, he even LINKS to them, thus covering his ass.
Your views are all well and good on a message board on a website, but I could argue night was day with you, it wouldn't prove anything until it went to court, and even then there would be no clear-cut winner. You don't know what the final decision would be on this matter, you are merely SUGGESTING, which is fine, for you, but don't expect there to be any final correct answer, not here anyway. That's for neither me, nor you, nor anyone else on this website (not even Matt Groening) to decide.
I can assure you that I know thealiasmen to be not only a gifted cartoonist, but a passionate defender of their rights. I wouldn't presume to link to anything he has done, as I am not one to violate the anonymous nature of the internet so casually as that, but please believe me that he is someone who inspired me artistically when I was younger, and continues to do so now.
Shit. Now he's gonna get a big(er) head.
