I had a post here before, but I wasn't satisfied with it.

Essentially, there were a bunch of things on that hate list that were pretty trivial items that went against cultural norms, and near the very end was a hatred of societies that repress individuality. It seemed (and still seems) to be a very odd pairing since the former is essentially a reinforcement of the society's already existing prejudices upon which individuality is expected to be repressed at the expense of social and economic standing. That's really the heart of the matter and what seems such a paradox. Government isn't the only body that represses individual expression. Collective groups of people sharing a common prejudice do it just as effectively.

As for not having a leg to stand on, I can only know and react to what you actually say, so if the words you type in response to 'I hate' are... "men who wear earrings or long hair" or (as one that I didn't mention before but is just as applicable) "people who dress to look like vampires, not including actors in movies or TV shows," then you run the risk of being taken to task for it by people who don't see the point in hating other people for no other reason than mere trivial physical characteristics, especially in light of the last few items on the list "societies that repress individuality," "hatemongers like Fred Phelps." (The latter of whom hates people for trivial sexual and religious characteristics, but the similarity being that the characteristics are just as ultimately trivial reasons to hate a person.) The claim that you don't hate *people* based on these traits wasn't made until now. It certainly wasn't present in the list, nor in the original explanation, and as such couldn't be factored into anything said in those posts. You can't write one thing, expect people to glean something else from it, and then claim that they're being an ass when they don't.

I'm going to bite back the urge to deconstruct the "king of world" thing any further because we could probably waste days going back and forth over it, getting nowhere, and ultimately wasting both our times. I don't know about you but I would guess that we both have more entertaining ways to waste time.

As for the last part where you had assumed that I was making fun of you or "dressing you down," all I can say is that humans aren't perfect. If you can fall prey to mistaken assumptions, then so can anyone else. It's not a horrible crime, it just happens, regardless of how "responsible" a reader one tries to be. You stated your preferences and the reasoning behind them, so I stated mine. Simple as that.

Based on the number of posts, we seem to hate more than we love.

How sad.

I hate that.

Actually, I think more of the "hate" posts are pointless arguements, rather than actual hates.

I'm just disappointed no one cared enough to post in the indifference thread.
