The law wasn't literally done away with. Paul also stated that at Romans 3:31.
But the purpose of the (over 6,000) laws under the Moasaic Law was to make the people aware that they were sinners.
When Jesus came, the spirit of the law became the more important thing. - Romans 8:1-4
The spirit of the law would entail true faith in the ransom sacrifice of Jesus, making it no longer necessary to physically carry out all the tedious sacrifices and rules laid out in the Law. Faith, and especially Love, became the more important things.

If you really love your neighbor, for example, you won't murder, steal, covet, commit adultery, etc. Then, by nature, the law would be fulfilled.
