I've been ignoring this thread for a while because I thought I remembered seeing pictures that are not safe for work (or not safe for children with my current home situation). From recapping, I have to agree with all posts that came before mine and following "wittycomics" reply. I noticed the forums a few weeks ago, and noticed a few SC regs on it. I never registered, but was able to try and make a comic, which was difficult, and, as Ivy said, too small to try to create with. But it's different and that's a start.

A few more original ideas that brad has discarded that you could try because others have wanted these things, but brad eventually decided against them:
1. Four panel comics
2. Four panel comics set up in a square (two panels on the top, two on the bottom)
3. Longer title lines (so that people could put Name of Comic Series followed by Identifying name of Comic)

Any of these things would set your site apart and make it more useful to others. Not to me, though, sorry. Perhaps you could try some original thought sometime. And feel free to browse the "Regarding Stripcreator" forum to see the ideas I presented to you above and more discarded ideas, as well as the origination of some of the features you believe stripcreator "stole".
But obviously, you do have SOME imagination. After all, you believe that brad is scoping out your site, finding ideas and information to add to his own. Why don't you use that imagination in a more productive way?

I would just like to officially jump "on teh bandwagon".

Being the eternal Libra, I am always willing to consider the other side of an argument, even if it is unpopular. So I went over there and looked around. The first thing I thought was;

Witty Comics? should be "Shitty Comics". Am I right?

It bothers me that we have the same birthday.

I enjoy the corny clip art, but that's pretty much the one mood of wittycomics, and it must be said that the user interface sucks big time-- not just the comics-making form, but the overall flow. It just bites a mile of veiny wang. It wouldn't be hard to fix, either.

Also, there's the Bowdlerization of naughty words. Apparently, we must be protected from words like "sh#t." Oops, I almost wrote it!

Lastly, wittycomics is run by a guy who deletes you and all your stuff if you accuse him of copying Stripcreator. That's fucking bogus.

I think I've made 5 comics there since we noticed the site in September.

I think it's a fun site to make comics on. The art is better than the crap that's been put on this one recently and they seem to have less retards. I don't care if steve stole brad's idea. brad doesn't own comic making. Also I didn't think brad would mind unoriginal sites when there's a million In4madors (brad stole that idea :o) and junklog is basically Amazon.com with potential for a big fat paycheck for brad (but steve can't put a google ad on his site).

There's a difference between offering a similar service as someone else and more or less copying their cretive efforts without permission and without offering credit.

Your points on the things that brad "stole" are immaterial, irrelevant, and pretty much a distraction. Nothing you've listed is specifically a creative persuit or artistic expression, and their aesthetics and mechanics do not step on legal or moral grey areas.

In all cases, his work uses his own design aesthetic. In the case of junklog, it's certainly a way to browse amazon but it offers a sort of communal experience that amazon does not. In the case of in4mador, he didn't just rip off another site's layout, keywords, site description. You may or may not have noticed that he's always freely linked to many other similar sites right there on the front page.

In other words, if you like steve's site that's fine, but don't try to justify plagiarism by pointing to things that are not plagiaristic and attempting to paint them as something that they aren't.
