I don't think they say that. I think that's like black people and bicycles. It's more over a stereotype that lives on through humour than anything else.

Movies, I guess. If not the profession then the profession to immitate it, the latter profession in question being acting. Isn't that always the way in such cases?
That still begs to question why somebody would say it in the first place, even if one were immitating a rapper and were not actually a rapper themselves.
