Today the court announced three unanimous cases. We think maybe they're trying to clean off their desks while O'Connor's still here.
In a case about voir dire (jury selection) the court reversed the 9th circuit... same as always.
In Will v Halleck, a guy had his credit card stolen, and it was used to buy kitty porn. So customs came in and took all the computers, which put his wife out of business. Back up your files!
The court ruled that customs used a loophole too soon, when the couple sued them in a constitutional bivens tort. The court said, wait till after trial, then try your loophole again.
In Ayotte, a New Hampster case about parental notification, the court said the lower court messed up by blocking the whole statute while the case moves along.
They could have just blocked the small disputed part. That sounds fair, regardless of how one feels about abortion.
