Many of the words used by Senior Citizens can not be found in modern dictionaries. However, I was able to find one gentleman who gave me the "scoop" on Senior Slang.
I'm passing along his knowledge so that more people will be able to communicate with the elderly.
For instance, a "Rapscallion" is a teenager--often a young, disrespectful punk.
And a "Scalawag" is a younger punk--most likely a pre-teen or grade schooler. In fact, most seniors are afraid of children over the age of two.
And to most seniors, a "Kid" is anyone under the age of 50.
Some seniors do retain a sense of humor. To them, "Wet Blanket" is not someone who spoils a good time, but is what happens when you sit in the rocking chair too long.
