Really? Sheryl Crow's cover of "The First Cut is the Deepest"? Anyway...
Here's mine in no particular order. Note that I listened to Jesus Christ Superstar a LOT during the summer.
01 - John Lennon - "Oh Yoko"
A haunting love song that proves Lennon could still make good music even after he turned into a crazy asshole.
02 - Rod Stewart - "Every Picture Tells a Story"
Classic rawk.
03 - Nico - "These Days"
A husky-voiced German lady's gorgeous elegy.
04 - The Beatles - "Something"
Of all The Beatles, only George never started to suck.
05 - Jesus Christ Superstar - "King Herod's Song"
A rockin', ambiguously gay King Herod. Who knew?
06 - Rent - "Out Tonight"
Daphne Rubin-Vega has the greatest voice I've ever heard period.
07 - Jesus Christ Superstar - "Heaven on Their Minds"
Ben Vereen has such a great rock voice. He even got a nod in "Run Ronnie Run" (the Mr. Show movie).
08 - The Ramones - "Sheila is a Punk Rocker"
The Ramones are great, but most of their stuff sounds the same... Anyway, this one really stuck in my head.
09 - A Chorus Line - "I Can Do That"
Short and sweet. The movie makes it better, notably with the addition of the black guy.
10 - Rufus Wainwright - "Hallejulah"
Just awesome.
