"None of that 80s stuff"? Fuck you. Most of the good metal comes from the 80s, or at least bands that started in the 80s. If you hate 80s metal, then you hate the good metallica albums, Slayer, Iron Maiden (whose career skyrocketed in the 80s), Judas Priest, Dio, Manowar, Ozzy, Testament, Exodus, Anthrax, Helloween, and hundreds of other kick ass bands. And if you hate them, you deserve a good boot to the head. That *is* old school metal.

And if you're talking about RATT, Poison, Stryper and the like, then fuck you too. Buttrock bands are as much metal as Korn is. That is to say, not at all.

They are worthy for their first 4 albums and the whole "metal till you die" attitude, but apart from that...
They're cheesier than a 1880's dairy farm. they are so over the top that they have trouble breathing because of the lack of oxygen. They take six freakin years to release a goddamned album!

I used say that I actually liked Slipknot, but as time goes on... I just like it less. Luckily, their other albums have also grown with them and even though they're influenced by the flux of Emo we've been experiencing, they're still an alright listen.

They can never bit the Misfits, though.

While I do like 80s metal, nothing gets me going like the older stuff. Blue Oyster Cult, Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Motorhead, etc. To me, these guys are what metal's all about.
