There are about a million really good breweries in America, it's just not the norm to have the shit available most places. Americans in general just don't mess with things they haven't had before. Why? I think our culture promotes homogenization, plus anything "fancy" is for fags.
Don't know. I've always been a curious person, and I don't understand people that aren't driven, or at least interested, to try new things. Especially when as harmless (relatively speaking) and potentially enjoyable as food and drink. What do you have to lose? "Oh, this tastes like shit. I guess I won't eat/drink this again." And?

Anyway. I know/have had very few import beers. Just the readily available ones. I've had a few Scottish beers recently, which were decent.
- Belhaven's import: I really liked this when I started getting into beer...for about two drinkings. Now it just tastes too metallic for me.
- Something-ioch Heather Ale: Pretty good, I'd drink it again. Flowery (obviously) and light.
- Something Elderberry Black Ale: This beer is PITCH black. I mean darker than imperial stouts, NO light shows through. However, it is suprisingly clean drinking. Almost too clean. I liked the flavor, don't get me wrong on that...I just wish there was more of it.

Anyway. I'm up for Prague, of course...(everybody now!) IF $$$ PERMITS

My dad and I were in some upscale grocery store and he said he'd buy me a beer. I had him get me a Fosters (for the hell of it) and I must say, it was quite good. Better than any shit I've ever had anyway. Most beer is way too mass-produced over here to be any good

And beer that comes in 55 gallon drum-sized cans isn't mass-produced?

Still tasted better than the pisswater I drink on a regular basis.

Yeah dude, just keep trying slightly better things, and in no time a whole new world of taste and alcohol content will open up to you.
