I disagree. Stripping a people of their humanity has repercussions that echo down through the generations.
thats the entire mistake though. they didn't strip a 'people' of their humanity. one group had an advantage over another and exploited it. identifying being exploited with black skin is the the way many black people victimize themself
i agree its a fresh wound but saying that people are still having to deal with the aftermath of converting from a segregist society to an eventually and hopefully inclusive one isn't the same as saying some 17 year old kid wearing $140 shoes and driving around in a $40,000 car is still being victimized by slavery. that diminishes what slaves endured
and i dont think the process of converting is like grief where people say 'there's no wrong way to grieve.' i think there is a wrong way if it involves setting up two different standards, one for the black community and one for every one else, which is what society seems to do when it comes to free speech nowadays. that just leads to more separatism. kryptonbornson might not believe it, kryptonbornson probbly wouldn't believe it, ain't no fuckin way kryptonbornson believes it, but i responded to him the same way i would have responded to any one with the same views. to me he's not white or black here, he's blue. the color of his name in the upper left but he hears what i say and what others say and cries 'racism!' he thinks people who say they're pissed off about the bullshit double standard are racists and only express it online because their cowards. where in reality because people don't like the double standard they are the exact opposite of racists and most only express it online because they don't want to hurt any one's feelings or be thought of as a racist. how big of a racist can you be if those are your two considerations?
Not true. It did in America.
very true supply side. also very true 'throughout time', when you look at more than America.
enslaving people isn't endemic to the white race. the fact that it was whites enslaving blacks in America only tells you that that was the group that had advantage enough to get over on the other. its a human failing not a white or european one. or actually, a white AND european one AND everyone else
I wasn't remarking on racism but on the idea that the current generation is unaffected by history and should just get over it and move on. Easier said than done.
i wasn't saying they weren't affected by history. we all are. i was saying its bullshit to label how they are affected as 'victimized by slavery'
I wasn't remarking on that, either, but on the likely cause of the many risks and problems that seem to accrue to black Americans.
that wasn't a direct reply to anything you said just part of the same paragraph where i was further expounding my position, like i was doing above with the paragraph that starts 'and i dont think the process of converting is like grief where people say...'
Actually, Deuteronomy specifies that sons shall not be put to death for the sins of their fathers
with 1800 translations i'm sure it says both
it says we should kill Canaanites too but i wasn't using the Bible as an ultimate reference. i was stating what i believe is a self evident righteousness - that sons should not be held responsible for the sins of their fathers. or husbands for their wives. or wives for their in-laws
no i didn't think you were. that was all part of the same paragraph where i was elaborating on my position. sorry if i put you on the defensive
[hr]
if you reply further could you include longer passages of my quotes? i'm having to scroll up to get context and i'm lazier than an alabama black rockin on a porch with a belly full of watermelon flavored fried menthol chicken cigarettes
