I'd just like to drop in and remind you guys that I'm still trying to organize the "Fuck All Y'alls" Party. Our platform is that humankind is too selfish and stupid to ever create a form of government that won't end up screwing one group or another. We don't really have any answers, but admitting you're all fucked up is a great first step, no?

Both times my bosses didn't actually know who I was voting for. They made an assumption based on my appearance, car, and reading material. Both times they were wrong. In fact, the last time I voted on a local referandum, I was voting AGAINST it, same as my boss. But she assumed since I held certain ideals, I'd vote a certain way and thus needed to block me. Which is ironic because I was voting the same way she was and my vote was needed for that side. Lost anyway.

I almost voted for the ban out of spite.

A few things:

One- Ivy, that was brilliant. As a member of "Generation X" I get almost no credit at all for having a working brain except from other "X'ers" who realize I'm a whole lot smarter than I should be. That was arrogant. Oh well. In any case, I could go in to detail, but It's around 11:30 and I just woke up and need a shower. *sniff* Badly.

Two- I want to join the "Fuck All Y'alls". Any political movement that has a platform like "Fuck Y'all. Fuck All Y'all" deserves my support. That was arrogant. Oh well.

Three- In the last election, I remeber Ceasar Salad running against Whopper and Big Mac. He was only on the ballot in a couple states, right? Too bad, because that sauce he's covered in is really good. That was not arrogant. Pretend it was, and that I finished it with "Oh well."

Thank you for that reply, Ivy. Call it disjointed if you want, but it was honest and had a good point.

For the record, I'm fairly certain that I'm younger than you are, so it's not like I'm some middle aged guy complaining about kids today.

Kudos on voting for Batman, but Santa Claus will crush him in the runoff when their votes come up exactly a tie.

Sadly, Ceasar Salad typically contains garlic, anchovies, and egg yolk, so vegans and vegetarians won't vote for it. And as much as I might crave Ceasar, I know I'll just regret the garlic content in the morning.

There's always Raspberry Vinaigrette, but it may contain nuts.

plus no matter what the stripper tells you, your vote doesn't matter. there's champagne in the voting booth, but you don't want champagne, do you? you want your vote to matter.

close elections are ones within thousands or 10's of thousands of votes. very rarely its within hundreds but even then you don't get 684 votes. if someone wants to influence an election forget about voting and instead organize voter turnout of people who are likely to vote like you

You have to take a day off work to vote in the US? How long are the polls open for?

We're getting 12 hours here, (7am - 7pm) don't know if it's the same everywhere else. But my God, the lines! Someone should really try to cut down the traffic at each voting location. Then again, it's probably all people like me who have no idea how to change their address for voting information and just go to the same place they went to before...

Wow, I should have paid more attention to this thread. Most young people I know are incredibly interested in politics. That group doesn't include me. I vote, I get my sticker, I go to work. However, my husband with debate every issue into the ground. Personally, I have a lesser of the two evils stance on voting. I know they're both going to screw up somehow, but I try to pick the one whose screw ups will be least hazardous. I tend to listen to only the introduction of a new proposition, just to know what I'm voting for or against. I don't overthink it, I just vote.

But like I said, around here, I'm the minority. Most of the people I went to high school with are totally political minded. I'm just enjoying my freedom.

I wish our polls were open that long. Last three times it was 8am-5pm, which is the exact work schedule I had.

It's like the post office closing at 5:15. Who the hell can get off work right at 5 and get to the post office and wait in line behind all the other schmucks who get off at five and still get something mailed before they lock the doors?

See, y'all need to be whores like me and work for the gubmint. That way, you get election day off and you can go vote out the douchebags who gave you the day off to vote in the first place.

P.S. If anybody else here lives in Maryland, please run for Governor so I have a decent candidate to vote for instead of Bob "Tight Ass" Ehrlich and Martin "Vote Whore" O'Malley.
