Boo, hiss! Mean-spirited Kentucky prison officials rip Satan's heart out. Noone ever takes the Dark One's feelings into account. It's because of the whole "evil" thing, isn't it?

Pick your religion...

http://www.selectsmart.com/RELIGION/

I'm 100% match as a Secular Humanist or a 91% match as Unitarian Universalist. Considering that I'm a Unitarian, this thing did a pretty good job.

I'm only a 10% match as a Jehovah's Witness. And Kingsom Hall is less than a mile away, dangit!

And then for us godless infidels, there's the atheist test. Seems my best match on that is secular humanism, too. Funny. I'd thought of myself as something of a transhumanist.

They are vastly different beliefs.

One believes that there is no way to prove or disprove the existence of divinity, or believes that they have not seen enough evidence either way. The other believes that there is adequate evidence of the non-existence of God. Atheism is essentially more of a "faith" than agnosticism, as it requires a leap of faith over a logical gap to arrive there.

I was just being sarcastic about not that big a difference... didn't want to use the word vary twice.

What I meant was that it is stupid to imply that those scores fall close together... they have similarities, but you're right in how the way they present it is wrong.

I haven't read that, but on your recommendation I might just order it.

To see how grounded in faith the supposedly secular opposition to transhumanism really is, take a look at Fukayama's Our Posthuman Future. It's slightly worrying that conservative atheists like him, who oppose progress with all the blind zeal of the religious, are taken so seriously.

Anytime this comes up, I gotta say it:

Some there are who say, "there's a God."

Others there are who say, "there is no God."

Still others say, "I don't know if there's a God."

Then there are those of us (and we are almost never mentioned) who say, "Ha, ha. What the fuck are you talking about?" Please remember us.
