Loathe as I am to utter these words, Makk is right. The similarities in design between Stripcreator and Create-a-Strip are too striking to be coincidental, especially since none of the several other comic creation facilities on the web share such similarities.
That said, I'm with kaufman on the rest of it. If Matt builds a better mousetrap, everyone wins. If he doesn't, who cares? Acknowledgement of the inspiration would be polite, but ultimately that's between him and Brad.
I'm not likely to start making comics at CAS anytime soon. Aside from my ties to the SC community, and SC's currently wider array of art, I think CAS' rules and profanity filter evidence an atmosphere that is different from SC's in ways I don't care for. It's just not for me, though I could see why some people would like it.
DisassociatedArtist -- if you're still reading -- I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of the clip art on a site like this. I don't know about anyone else, but if I really cared about the art, I'd teach myself to draw. The humor is what's important to me, and we've got several thousand strips' worth of proof that even stick figures can carry a joke just fine. However, I do have one criticism of the art on CAS that I think is relevant: the backgrounds are too loud. It should be easier to distinguish the characters against them. My suggestion is to make the objects simpler and the colors paler.
