I always thought this forum would contain quality comics that their authors were afraid would get lost in the shuffle. I also used to think that the creators who were posting senseless trash were aware of that fact, and were just posting spitefully.
Now I realize that the morons who are posting shit strips are unaware of their lack of talent and funny. They seem to think their strips are legitimate. I should have known that the same ignorance that produces crap comics also robs those comics’ authors’ self-awareness and their ability to gauge their own shortcomings.
What you have to be realize though is that comedy is subjective, largely depending upon the experiences of the reader.
There is no universal funny.
I see NYC-based stand-up comics, who ostensibly are enjoyed in NYC, and I want to puke my fucking guts out, and spell out expletives to them in it on the sidewalk.
I think of comedic talent as probability. Some comics are more more probable to be found funny than others. But that doesn't mean that someone who's funny to 70% of the people isn't considered complete ass to the other 30%.
So, when you talk about bad comics being unaware, the irony is that you're really showing yourself to be so, since they're not bad comics to everyone(the very fact that they find themselves funny assures this fact).
There is no right and wrong to like and dislike. Or as our substitute teacher used to say right before we pantsed her, "Everyone's entitled to their opinion."
