I like The Klezmatics; I think I've put them on every swap CD so far. This song I like for its simple, spontaneous sound.

Not much to say. I like the song.

Gogol Bordello: East Infection
They call themselves gypsy punk. I liked them even when I thought they were just punk, and they're even better in concert than on CD.

Kapela Ze Wsi Warszawa: Do Ciebie Kasiuniu
This CD was a bitch to get. I had to send my cousin to Poland to get it. I think of them as sort of a Polish Hedningarna.

Three of these songs are from CDs a Turkish dance instructor brought by. I'm pretty sure he'd burned them himself, but at any rate, there are no artsists listed. I tried to put in a small spectrum of Turkish stuff. (All of the Turkish songs have dances that go with them.)

Swingle Singers: Solfeggietto (Ph. E. Bach)
This is a group of jazz singers that started singing classical music really, really fast. I just included a short piece of theirs because you either love it or hate it... and if you hate it it lasts forever.

Koko Taylor: I'm a Woman
Continuing my American folk theme, this is some classic blues from a WOMAN! It was hard to decide what to include from her, but in the end I put in a remake of the Bo Diddley classic.

The Fiery Furnaces: Tropical Iceland
I don't know what's up with this band. They're certianly of inconsistent quality, even on the same CD. I also don't think they're from the US. But this song is really damned catchy!

Puerto Muerto: Grinding Bones
I find this song very beautiful. Sucks that the rest of the CD is shit.

Ralph Stanley: Oh, Death
Ralph Stanley really is all that.

Orkiestra œw. Miko³aja: Oleœ
Another Polish CD that was a bitch to find. This song is about an old woman whose husband dies. Afterwards, she feels like she's 18 again and goes out partying and picks up a young lover. Good stuff.

Kevin Tihista: Good Wings
This one's for boorite! I like the whole album, but I chose this one for the clever lyrics.

?: Curcuna
I don't know if people who aren't drummers will appreicate this track as much as I do, but I think it's amazing. Anonymous Turkish drumming -- probably on a doumbek.

Moxy Fruvous: A Kick in the Ass
This breaks my theme of "new stuff," but it helps with the acapella theme. I think this band is usually really bad but they have a few gems.

Kronos Quartet: The White Man Sleeps ][
Also not new, but I've always liked this piece.

Ladytron: Nuhorizons
This band is like an 80's electronic flashback. All their songs sound pretty much like this, but I like 'em, anyway.

SNMNMNM: Right Hand Man!
I don't really like this CD much, but it is fairly new and I do like this track. They're sort of like TMBG but not as catchy.

Bob Wills: Big Ball's in Cow Town
A classic song. Plus it mentions "balls."

A Turkish dance song featuring the zurna.

I pulled this off http://www.jewsharpguild.org/ when I was learning to play the Jew's harp. I still can't play like that, though.

FannyPack: Things
Some people like music that's intricate and makes you think. Some people like music featuring talented vocalists. Some people like fresh takes on old muisic. Some people enjoy instrumental virtuosity. Some people enjoy deep, poetic lyrics. And some people like music that's just plain catchy. If you're one of these people, you will hate this track. It might be the worst piece of shit I've ever heard, barring the sound of aligators chewing on bagpipes. I included it so you could have a greater appreciation of the rest of the CD. Also becuase really, I hate you all.
