Hm. I think there was a joke in there, but it seemed to be more like a general strategy for gameplay than a funny comic.

-Try not to write out actions. For ~laugh~ try "ha, ha." or nothing at all. We should, for the most part, be able to figure out the emotions of the characters from the context of the dialog.

-Make the punch line punchier than a strat, which I said before. In any case, I did this:

/comics/LuckyGuess/375584/

Hope that helps. Your enthusiasm makes me like you better.

In order to edit, you have to donate. Even 5 dollars is not too small.

I'd like to echo what Lucky said, and put in a word for us gaming Neandertals. I didn't understand your strip, but I understood Lucky's. If you're accessible, then you have the added draw of opening up a world that other people might not get. Toon about gaming all you want (please! there's a wide open market in gamer comics aimed at gamers and not their parents in the newspapers), but let me in on the joke.

I didnt realize at first when I wrote it up but its an inside joke of me and my firend. The situation actualy took place when we played Halo together one evening. We started to take all the vehicles on our side and run them into the hallway which was the only short cut to the other sides base.....you should have seen the comments fly after that...lol. Everyone was forced to walk around the loooong way to get to each others base, and since it was capture the flag it made it that much more funny to us. They couldnt even blow the vehicles out of the way...heh. Anyways, thats what I was trying to get across in the first comic and obviously failed miserably, but at first you dont succeed... :-)

Also, this is an ongoing comic, where the two of us get sucked into the internet and go from game to game that is currently being played on the net, and the only way to jump to the next game is to die off in the current one...heh. Right now I have 13 comic strips for this already.

I hope you don't play Sidewinder with sniper rifles. That stage is lame with sniper rifles. Also:

http://www.stripcreator.com/comics/LuckyGuess/sets/reflexbfme2/

That is a set where me and my BFME2 clan act like retards. Some people who do not play BFME2 like it, but it caters almost entirely to gamers. Read and maybe you'll pick something up (and hopefully not anything bad).

Also also: If you have to explain a comic then it's not worth making into a comic. Make sure we know the story (unless it's a set) just by reading the comic, like what bolo said. I'm sure that quite a few toprateds are good examples.

Good point. I guess I should have stated its a set of ongoing comics first then...heh. This is still all so new but still sooo cool. :-) After the silly season is over I'll be donating, looks like I need to edit a few things, and btw nice comic there.

It's a set of comics. When you donate you'll be able to organize new comics into sets that are apart from the main list. Try scrolling down the list of someone's main comics and then one of their sets.

I only ever did it on the easiest mode. Otherwise it's ridiculously hard, and outside my realm of gameitude.

writing out stage directions in dialog is ham-fisted and kind of awkward. can you try another way of making it known what the character is doing without telegraphing?

also : some dialog can be internal. never underestimate the "pregnant pause" effect - not everyone has to have something to say/do in every panel....

I liked the baconman one. Dead Christmas was okay. Not good, but okay. You're starting to get the hang of it, I think, though you've got a long way to go.

You rely too much on old jokes and puns. If carefully done Puns can be really funny, but it's hard.

Try for some more original stuff. I advise running through the toprated pages and look for some inspiration as far as technique.

if you lose the word "dumbass" it punches up the comic.

taking out unneeded words makes a difference.
