In fact, the artwork is from StripCreator’s “office” set of characters and backgrounds, and was actually created specifically for the site, so it’s a dead giveaway.

A quick comic search for "TOP 10 BEASTIALITY SEX TOURS" brings back zip so it seems who ever made this is either a donor who deleted the comic, or more likely, simply made the comic and used print screen instead of publishing.

Not sure an internet lynch mob is warranted.

Do we know who drew the "office" characters, and if so, whether they intended to retain the copyright?

WittyComics.com does have some characters that are a lot like the ones in SC's office set.  Obviously this iPhone comic was made using SC, but the characters could have been WC's first.  Even if they weren't, the artist may have intended for them to be public domain, or otherwise reusable.

As for the template, I'm skeptical that Brad/SC could assert copyright over a certain way of arranging backgrounds and characters to look like a comic strip.  And even if he could, he probably doesn't want to: wasn't the whole point of making the renderer so that people could display their comics elsewhere?

It would have been nice if the author had taken the opportunity to drive a little traffic to SC, but I don't see a serious transgression here.

I just found this in the FAQ.  Has it always been there?  I guess it must have been.

Can I use my comics outside of Stripcreator?

It says that only some categories are free to use.  The office and Injokester categories aren't among them.  And it doesn't say anything about backgrounds at all (which seems like a significant omission).

Maybe a lynch mob is warranted after all.
