I started off posting my comics because i was new here and I wanted to find other members with similar senses of humor w/o pouring through page after page of puke trying to weed them out. People didn't take my strips or rebuttles to critisism very well at all so i continued to post to annoy and more importantly, to defend myself (against such giant losers? i know, i know) and showcase my own style of stripping...I do not make comics, however, to offend anyone, i make them because i personally feel that theyre funny and my friends also enjoy reading them. i personally believe that my comics are not offensive at all to anyone with a sense of humor. I also believe that the "normal" way of creating strips on here is completely stale. I mean things are so "cookie cutter" on here that it sickens me to see the lack of creativity. beware the way of the dodo, people. Mega_h8, allow me to explain a few simple principles of free speech.
First off, you are free to say whatever the hell you want, so long as it's not a clear threat to another person or property. This is a right given to you freely.
Secondly, and more importantly, when you say what you wish to say, expeect OTHERS to say what THEY wish to say. For example, a homosexual comes out of the closet and makes a huge media spectacle out of it. If this homosexual honestly believes he or she will not face backlash from the public, this person is severely naive. The same goes for hate speech, and bad comics. If you just showed your comics to your friends, you could expect a fairly standardized reaction to them, but when you go showing them to complete strangers, you need to expect some criticism.
Critics exist in EVERY medium. Evem if your comics were funny, they would likely STILL be criticized, even if in jest.
Your main problem was that instead of ignoring the critics who put you down, or addressing their issues reasonably and intelligently, you responded in kind with more negative remarks. This incited another of Stripcreator's trademark battles of power.
Just stop, and they will stop.

Well, people will make what comics and post what messages they like. That's the short version.

If you don't like their comics, well, it's probably because their brains and their little friend's brain process humor differently. It is the fact that people find stupid things funny that keeps The Family Circus in business.

People come here from wherever 15-year-olds hang out on the Internet trying to feel angstful or have cybersex or whatever 15-year-olds do on the Internet, and they make these comics trying to be funny. Their reference for funny may be quite different from ours; maybe they think Howard Stern or Def Comedy Jam or whatever shock humor adolecents find funny are the epitome of humor. But it even takes talent to be Howard Stern (believe it or not). These guys just don't have the talent (in the comic medium, anyway). It's not their fault.

But who knows? Maybe among their own kind, their stuff is a work of genius. Maybe the joke's on you: the humor isn't in the comic but in the offense it produces. (Or that they perceive it produces.)

Then when they find message boards, they find they can offend more people by posing "shocking" messages. But the fault ultimately lies with the regulars and other people with some sense of wit. Because when they see something like "nigga! Wheas mah chiltlin's!", or "My comics are awesome, its you who sux," or anything else in the vein of #123376,

It should be pretty obvious that people like "the two new guys" that bunner is talking about (and I really don't know who they are), or others who out of conviction or the urge to offend post racist or "cuss"-laden comics don't really want helpful advice or playful raillery. They want attention.

How often do I see "Don't feed the trolls." posted? But no one listens. So what do y'all expect? United we stand; divided we have to put up with a bunch of inane crap.

However, it's still the case that since this is pretty much a public message board, fools will show up. There's no need to let them work you into a hot lather. Fools exist, and many know how to work a computer (enough to post, anyway). The rest of us'll just have to deal with it.

The best way to deal with it is the simple rule: If you really don't want to hear from someone again, or you really think he's an idiot beyond help, why do you even want to post messages for him? I honestly don't know why you give these people the time of day even to insult them. It's not as if you're going to get a witty reparte going.

It's more of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" kind of thing.

Ideally, if no one ever said a word, trolls wouldn't live very long, but the reality is that someone DOES say something. Sometimes it's a regular who can't take the crap or wants to poke fun. Sometimes it's an easily-impressed noob. And once the response is out there (good or bad), that's all it takes.

I should've asked Brad for an ignore feature.

While we're at it, here's my philosophy on why we feed trolls: the troll feeds us every bit as much as we feed him. Sure, one-on-one it's easier to get riled up, but together, it's FUN. It's FUN when the whole community (even if only three or four guys) comes down on a troll. It's FUN to sling insults, to bounce jokes off of each other, to create weird contests, to make up new running gags. God help me, it's FUN. By fighting together, we not only feel less insulted, but we make the troll less insulting. I think the guys who yell "DON'T FEED THE TROLLS" either don't realize this or are too sensitive to play along.

Sure, making fun of the bottom of the barrel is pretty much why us elites were put on earth in the first place. But if the troll posts virtually the same annoyance every time with only the way it is worded changed (as sub, weedle, and Mega did), posting "Well if you're the hacker you say you are, then hack us" every time for five months isn't fun, it's just fucking annoying.

I'm curious, how did anyone get any sort of entertainment at all by replying to the users I just named with the same old same old "STFU troll, we > j00!"-type shit? (except for sub being hacked, which admittedly is one of the funniest occurances to ever have graced this board) Usually, that sort of stuff gets boring in a week tops.

However, I think the term troll gets thrown around too easily here. (granted, these people ARE trolls, but not everyone caught up in this sort of thing is).

I know this first hand. When I first got here, I was just ignorant to the ways of stripcreator, and because of my ignorance, it sparked a fury. I was not intentionally doing anything, but the circumstances played out as they did. I am happy here now and actually enjoy the company of everyone who flamed the shit out of me. I get along quite well with people like Kajun, undoubtedly the person who flamed me the most (damn scot) and dcomposed (my new aussie friend who likes ICP and wrestling), etc. We all get along quite well here for the dysfuntional group we are...

Now, we must never speak of my first appearance here at stripcreator EVER AGAIN. This is my decree.
