As Gail reapproached me in her awful getup, I thought of Althea's words. If she was a prophet, I was doomed to be eaten by this lot. But if she foretold the past, that meant it had already happened.

But that made no sense whatsoever. If I was already eaten ... at that point, something in my logic circuits exploded.

I was free, and surrounded by the inferno set off by the sparks of my explosive escape.
