White Castle started in the Kansas (we learn from the website), and I remember going to one in the Northern US when I was young. I think Krystal "restaurants" must have started in the South.

I've had both, and they're pretty much flat, steamed, tasteless beef by-products on a slimy, soggy bun.
Around my area, Krystal hamburgers are called GutBombs or ButtBusters. Tempting, eh?
