This one was hard to judge. A lot of good stuff out there. My mood was more receptive to subtlety than to the hard sell this time. I really liked TheBlairZip's "Tommy" (how did you know I'd bought Tommy tickets yesterday) and loved the artistry of Big Evil Dan's Pac Man.
Nonetheless, two entries really struck me above the others, two entries practically as different from each other as possible. One was crabby's 5-part Hate Scope opus. I'm not sure why. He skillfully weaved in most of the prescribed characters, and infused the series with such TLC, it was irresistable. To the biscuit wagon, indeed!
The other was a single strip, jabizo's Extra-Terrestrial Sports. Never mind the 6-month time differential; this one could have entered very respectably in CC 45. That one line about playing "on the skins team", gave it a whole new twist, not to mention evoking memories of "shirts vs. skins". And it was extremely well "drawn".
Both of these comics deserve to win, but only one can, by the rules, so to help me decide, we go to the proverbial coin flip, and the right to host CC95 goes to ...
