Actually, the G man is still alive and well. He has stopped making redundant comedy specials for HBO, but his standup is still around and making me laugh. For those who think they know what his show is like, it's about 95% standup, and 5% hitting things with a hammer. He's actually quite funny, and seems to stay on top of the events of today.
