Well I think they are great comics, but as a self taught cartoonist that can only draw backgrounds and men I'm probably doubly biased >_0
No, great doesn't capture it. Excellent? Wonderful? Masterly perhaps? Wow, where to start with how brilliant this girl is...
Firstly, what you've done within the limitations of stripcreator is incredible. They way you've written around the visuals is just amazing, at no point while reading did it feel like a character was used just because there was no better alternative (apart from the disproportionate Jesus, but that's forgivable >_0).
Even the lack of expressions and poses hasn't held you back- every strip just feels 'right'. You've breathed a real personality into these characters, and while it may sound like a line, you've done this so well it actually felt like I was seeing many of them for the first time (and I drew a bunch of them!).
Rarely have I found a comic strip (or any other medium for that matter!) that is so completely delightful, so well planned yet spontaneous, eloquent but never verbose, subtle yet lucid, shocking and never vulgar, that delivers the perfect blend of narrative, implication and utmost hilarity! Don't ever stop.
So onto the strips! I tried to cut this list down to just a few of my favourites to talk about. 9 was as close as I could get it.
Jesus Loves Poo is simply remarkable. It's also the first strip I've seen on stripcreator that could be split into 3 separate 1 panel comics and each would still be funny. And not only that, but they'd be funny in a completely unique and different way than the original gag. If you planned this then you're a genius. If not then your subconscious is a genius.
Fight or Flight- Oh, the Larsonesque beauty! This strip also stands out because you've used the narration box well, which is something of a rarity amongst new arrivals to SC.
It'sa Me!- Though it's a variation of an old joke, this is so, so perfectly understated. And you couldn't have picked better characters to parody!
Office Romance is one of the main reasons why I said it was like seeing these characters for the first time. I had something in mind when I drew them, but you've just changed the way I'll look at them from here on out. Any more or any less to this comic and it never would have been so.
Hospital Visit- While I think Squid can take a little credit for this one since he drew the doc, this whole strip comes together beautifully largely because the doc is still holding the bloody saw he has just used to butcher the husband! The transition from the syringe takes this strip so much further than a simple "and now I'm covered in blood" gag ever could. And this sort of thing occurs far too frequently in these comics for it to be written off as a coincidence.
I Vant To Be Alone is perfectly set up- skeletons, zombies, vampires, lawyers and then wham! punch line twist. Most of us have to work to get the pics here to tell a thousand words you know...
Smoke Break is definitely among my most favourite of your strips, I can't even envisage a better way to deploy those characters!
Honeymoon in Mexico is just gorgeous! It may seem odd, but I've never even thought of that horse in anything but an anthropomorphic sense (largely due to Squid's Tardboy and Finkelman series), so being forced to see it as an actual mule dressed in costume was both a shocking wake-up and utterly delightful!
Office Equipment - This is very similar to what I had in mind when I drew that character, the idea was to have him beaten up by various things- co-workers, customers, even zombies. But a fax machine?!? BRILLIANT!
So to close off I'll take the opportunity to mention your artwork. In a word: Wow. The colouring and shading is simply amazing, and I just LOVE your style. You've got a bit of a head start on me, but if I'm even in your league in another decade I'll be happy ^_^
I haven't had a chance to pore over the work on your site in it's entirety, but it'll certainly give me something to enjoy in my next days off.
So welcome to Stripcreator, you've won a fan this day. Please please PLEASE! don't ever leave.
